Mayor of Kidderminster
At Kidderminster Town Council’s Annual Meeting and Mayor Making event held on Tuesday 12th May 2026, Councillor Shazu Miah was elected as Mayor of Kidderminster for the next municipal year. He will be supported throughout his term by his wife, Farjana Khan, who will serve as Mayoress.
Councillor Shazu Miah, of Bangladeshi origin, is the first ethnic minority Mayor of Kidderminster Town Council, marking a significant milestone for diversity and inclusion in the community and the town’s civic history.
Councillor Miah, who has served as Deputy Mayor to Councillor Hine over the past 12 months, shared his journey within his speech, and expressed his thanks to all guests for listening and attending the special evening.
Also elected at the meeting was Councillor John Beckingham, who will serve as Deputy Mayor for the coming year.

H.E.L.P Community Support, who work with homeless people and people in need within Wyre Forest.
During his mayoral year, Councillor Miah will be raising funds for 2 charities: Kidderminster & District Youth Trust and H.E.L.P Community Support.
