The Mayor’s Sunday

The Mayor’s Civic Sunday Service took place at St Mary and All Saints Church in Kidderminster, formally marking the welcome of the newly elected Mayor of Kidderminster, Councillor Shazu Miah.

The annual Civic Sunday event began with a procession from Kidderminster Town Hall to the church. The Mayor was joined by fellow Town Councillors, Past Mayors, civic dignitaries, representatives from local organisations and members of the public, all coming together to celebrate community, civic service and the start of the Mayor’s year in office.

The service provided an opportunity for reflection and community fellowship, bringing together people from across the town. Attendees also heard from local charity HELP, which spoke about its work supporting people within the community and the positive difference it makes to the lives of local residents.

Mayor’s Civic Sunday is a longstanding tradition in Kidderminster, providing an opportunity to bring together civic leaders, community representatives and residents in a spirit of unity and service.

The Mayor said:

“I would like to thank everyone who attended and supported this year’s Civic Sunday Service. It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate our community and the values that unite us. My sincere thanks go to St Mary and All Saints Church for hosting the service, to KDYT for their support on the day, and also to HELP for sharing their important work, and to all those who contributed to making the occasion such a special and meaningful event.”

The Mayor also thanked the Standard Bearers, guest speakers, volunteers and everyone involved in organising the day.
