Broadwaters Mill Park: Green Flag 2026

Kidderminster Town Council is celebrating after retaining the Green Flag Award for Broadwaters Mill Park.

It comes as the internationally recognised standard for parks and green spaces celebrates its 30th year.

Broadwater’s Mill Park is one of a record breaking 2,391 in the UK to achieve the award this year – a fantastic testament to the hard work, passion and dedication of the team who care for this green space, ensuring it is maintained to a high standard for visitors and residents to enjoy.

Helen Dyke, Chair of the Services Committee said:

“We are absolutely delighted that Broadwaters Mill Park has once again been recognised with a Green Flag Award. This achievement reflects the dedication and hard work of our Operational Services team, our volunteers and everyone who takes pride in caring for this wonderful park. Broadwaters Mill Park is a valued community asset, providing a safe, welcoming and beautiful green space for residents and visitors alike. We are committed to maintaining these high standards so that future generations can continue to enjoy everything the park has to offer.”

The Mayor of Kidderminster, who raised the Green Flag added:

“It is a real honour to see Broadwaters Mill Park recognised with the Green Flag Award once again.

This is a fantastic achievement and one that we are incredibly proud of as a Town Council. This recognition reflects the dedication and hard work of the Town Council’s Public Realm & Operations Team, the Friends of Broadwaters Mill Park, our volunteers, and all our partners, whose continued care and hard work help ensure this remains a welcoming, high-quality space for residents and visitors alike.

Places like Broadwaters Park are at the heart of our community. It provides a space for all ages of people to enjoy, relax, and connect with nature. Maintaining such a wonderful space takes teamwork, and this recognition is a wonderful testament to everyone who plays a part in looking after it.

On behalf of the Town Council, I would like to thank everyone involved for their ongoing commitment and congratulate them on this well-deserved achievement.”

Paul Todd MBE, Green Flag Award Manager at Keep Britain Tidy, said:

“Parks are essential public spaces that support our wellbeing, our communities and our economy. Yet for millions of people, particularly in the most deprived areas, local parks simply don’t feel safe or welcoming.

“With public services under pressure, investing in parks is not a luxury, it’s a practical, preventative solution and one of the most visible ways to improve people’s quality of life.

“The Operational Services team at Kidderminster Town Council have shown what can be achieved when parks are properly supported and managed. As we celebrate 30 years of the Green Flag Award, we want every community to have access to green spaces like this that are safe, welcoming and maintained to a high standard.

“Congratulations to everyone involved.”

The Green Flag Award scheme, managed by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy under contract from the Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government, recognises and rewards well-managed parks and green spaces, setting the benchmark standard for the management of green spaces across the United Kingdom and around the world.
