At Kidderminster Town Council’s Annual Meeting held on Thursday 16th May 2024 at St. Georges Church, Councillor George Connolly was elected as Town Mayor. He was supported by his partner, Faye Irving, who became the Mayoress for the year.

Councillor Connolly, who has served as the Deputy Mayor to Councillor Darren Chambers for the past 12 months, said that he was honoured to be elected as Town Mayor and thanked the audience at St. Georges stating:

“I am born and bred in Kidderminster, having gone to school at Franche and the Baxter College. I’m currently employed in the construction industry as a design coordinator for a Midlands based business. I look forward to working with all Councillors, regardless of political party, for the greater good of Kidderminster. I also look forward to seeing the completion of the Town Hall next year and seeing this become a major success and a fantastic asset for the people of Kidderminster.”

Councillor Doug Hine was also elected as the Deputy Mayor.

During his Mayoral year, Councillor Connolly raised funds and awareness for the MND Association – Motor Neurone Disease Association who focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by Motor Neurone Disease in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
