Civic Leaders of Husum visited Kidderminster

Husum residents visit Kidderminster

Between the 6th–9th October, a number of residents of Husum visited Kidderminster as part of the Twinning Association.

The itinerary included a visit to the Town Hall by the Civic Leaders of Husum hosted by the Mayor, Councillor Kevin Gale.

The Twinning Association

Post-war in 1955, John L. Evans, Kidderminster’s Town Clerk at the time visited Husum for the first time alongside the Mayor as a way of promoting reconciliation between the British and German communities. It was also an opportunity to rebuild both of the affected towns after the war ended.

The formal winning Association of the two towns only became official in 1976, after numerous informal visits over the past 21 years – followed by its signature in Husum in 1977.
